We haven’t been able to have as many guests to Garden Press as we wanted to this year but I’ve still been very busy. We’ve been walking everyday and noticing the tiny changes day by day in the garden and the landscape surrounding us. Lots of inspiration has come from these wanders, from hawthorne blossom in may to holly berries in the snow, red kites soaring overhead year round and the shy occasional woodpecker. This has been making its way into my new work in Garden Press. Another big inspiration has been reminiscing about past travel and treasured places. I’m sharing some of the work that’s been made in this time.
Source Material: Tales of the Tyne
While rambling on the banks of the Tyne we discover this abandoned shipyard. Lots of inspiration comes from walking/cycling and re walking familiar landscapes looking for the unfamiliar. We take photos, sketch and sometimes paint in preparation for creating larger bodies of work back at the studio.
